It is unfortunately far too common for women to face medical issues like high blood pressure, gestational diabetes, and excessive blood loss as well as mental health issues including perinatal mood disorders and post-partum depression.

Maternal mortality rates in the United States are actually rising since the 1990s, and according to the United Health Foundation, New Jersey ranks 45th in pregnancy-related deaths. Black women are three to four times more likely to die during or after delivery than White women.

We implore women to take advantage of any health programs they can receive. One local clinic a woman can use is the Atlantic Medical Group Women’s Health Clinic on 140 Central Ave in Westfield, NJ.
