October is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness Month. For over 30 years, this month has recognized the tragic loss so many parents experience. The goal of this month is to provide resources for parents and families who have lost children due to miscarriage, stillbirths, birth defects, and SIDS, among other causes.

While the loss of a child stays with a parent forever, Walk In Sunshine hopes to raise awareness surrounding pregnancy and infant loss, which we hope results in improved education and prevention efforts to ultimately reduce the number of these tragedies. Walk In Sunshine provides resources for grieving parents and families, from books and podcasts, to virtual and in-person support groups. To access our resource library, please click here. For families residing in New Jersey who have lost a child, we also provide financial assistance to help offset the cost of funeral arrangements.

Ask an Expert With First Lady Tammy Murphy

This Wednesday, October 26th from 2:45 – 3:45PM, Walk In Sunshine founder Lou Magrone is participating in First Lady Tammy Murphy’s Ask an Expert panel. This month’s topic will be pregnancy and infant loss awareness. In 2021, First Lady Murphy introduced the Nurture NJ Maternal and Infant Health Plan, a strategy to reduce New Jersey’s high rates of maternal and infant mortality and eliminate the racial disparities responsible for these deaths (via NJ.gov). The panel will be streamed on the First Lady’s Facebook page
